Workshop Content

1 Warming up and core training

We begin with a thorough warm-up while strengthening the core—essential for all forms of physical expression.
In everyday life, the body naturally acquires habits shaped by occupation, personality, and lifestyle. In this session, we face these habitual patterns directly and attempt a physical “reset.”

2 A workshop on physically interpreting Butoh

We explore Butoh as movement, physically analyzing it and translating it into action.Through practical exercises, participants will work with movements frequently used in Wakaba Coffee’s choreography, such as:being moved by a “sphere within the body,”sinking into or floating in water, contracting like paper. These images are physically decoded and practiced as embodied exercises.

3 Butoh inspired contemporary dance

Participants will practice movement phrases that integrate contemporary dance with Butoh-based interpretations.
In this session, we will learn and dance part of the choreography from café de wakaba ~a squid floating in the dark~.

Fee 4,000 yen
Partial participation or observation is possible; the fee remains the same.
