Those who ain’t damn nobody
作品のコンセプト：
“私とあなた、男と女、善と悪、光と影…そのような、対極にあるとされるものたちの境界線はどこにあるのだろうか？相反するように見えるものたちは、表裏一体なのかも知れない…”そのような普遍的なテーマを2人羽織風の踊りで描く。
白いドレスの乙女と、その中に潜む薄汚れた醜女。ふたりは「私が本体」と言わんばかりに醜い争いを繰り広げる。果たしてどちらが本体なのか？美しさが本物か、醜さが真実か。
本作品について：
2020年にギャラリーでのパフォーマンスのために10分バージョンを制作。好評を得て10分〜30分のバージョンを制作し、劇場、商店街、古民家、神社、バーなどさまざまな現場で約20回以上の再演をくり返す。
2021年のSAI Dance Festivalではduo 1st prizeを、2022年現代舞踊協会主催「choreographer’s concert vol.1」では審査員賞を受賞。
舞台芸術評論家の堤宏志氏からは「見る人によって違った解釈が楽しめ、観客のイマジネーションを喚起する強い効果のある作品」と評される。

上演場所について：
本作品は屋外、屋内含めさまざまな場所で上演が可能であることが強みです。照明音響機材、舞台設備に関しては、必要に応じて所有しているものを使用。ワカバコーヒー主催の公演では舞台設営から公演の実施、バラシまでメンバーが行っています。
Concept of the Work
“Where lies the boundary between me and you, man and woman, good and evil, light and shadow?
Perhaps these seemingly opposing forces are two sides of the same coin.”
This universal theme is expressed through a duet performed in the style of Ninin-baori (a two-person performance in which two bodies appear as one).
A maiden in a white dress and the impure crone hidden within her engage in a grotesque struggle, each insisting, “I am the true self.”
Which one is the original? Is beauty genuine, or is ugliness the truth?
About the Work
Originally created in 2020 as a 10-minute performance piece for a gallery, the work received strong acclaim and was subsequently developed into versions ranging from 10 to 30 minutes.
It has since been performed more than 20 times in a variety of venues — theaters, shopping arcades, traditional houses, shrines, and bars.
The piece won the Duo 1st Prize at the SAI Dance Festival 2021, and received the Jury Prize at the Choreographer’s Concert vol.1 organized by the Japan Modern Dance Association in 2022.
Dance critic Hiroshi Tsutsumi praised it as “a work with a strong power to stimulate the viewer’s imagination, offering multiple interpretations depending on who watches.”

On Performance Venues
One of the strengths of this work is its adaptability to a wide range of spaces, both indoor and outdoor.
Lighting, sound, and stage equipment can be provided as needed.
For performances organized by Wakaba Coffee, members handle every aspect of production — from stage setup and technical operation to strike (dismantling) after the show.
